ACCOMMODATION CHOICES

Dormitory

The main accommodation option at Dounans is dormitory style. We have arranged that each dormitory will be for 6 people sharing - even though there are 12 beds in each dormitory i.e. each person gets a double bunk. Each dormitory has its own shower and toilet facilities. See these pictures for more information.

Single room within dormitory

Each dormitory also has a separate single room with toilet and shower facilities. There are limited numbers of single rooms so they will be allocated on a first come first served basis, or where there are special needs for a single room. 

Camping

There are also good facilities for camping at the centre. Preferably you should bring your own camping equipment, but tents can be provided by Frank if we know in advance. The camping option attracts a reduction in the pre-conference costs of £30 (45€) and the conference costs of £40 (60€).

Bed and Breakfast

Bed and breakfast in a local guest house or hotel. For this option, you will need to make your own arrangements. Below is a list of local accommodation. This option attracts a reduction in the pre-conference costs of £30 (45€) and the conference costs of £40 (60€).

Warning: If you are planning to book alternative accommodation check that it is in or very near to Aberfoyle. Some of the listings say ‘near Aberfoyle’ but are in fact quite a journey. You might also find that a bed and breakfast or guest house is better value than a hotel.

WEATHER IN SCOTLAND

Scotland experiences a wide mix of weather conditions. Check out the site below to discover that April near Aberfoyle records the lowest average rainfall and high levels of sunlight:

The conference will take place in what is mid-Spring for us, so it could be either warm and dry with temperatures in the mid to high twenties (centigrade) – or very wet and cold with temperatures in the low to mid teens.
