By Air

There are more direct flights to Scotland than ever before and prices are coming down all the time as more low cost carriers offer new routes. The links at the foot of this page will help you find the best deals! You should plan to arrive at one of the following airports:

Newcastle airport is not in Scotland! But it is the destination for some low cost flights. Take a bus to Newcastle Railway station, then a train to Stirling (via Edinburgh where you may need to change trains). 3 hours 30 minutes NCL

From any of these airports you should travel by bus and/or train to Stirling Railway Station. (A short covered walkway connects the bus and rail stations.) You will be picked up by minibus or car from Stirling Railway Station for a 30 minute journey to Dounans, Aberfoyle. Please try to arrive when our free shuttle bus is running.

Free Shuttle Bus

A free shuttle bus has been arranged for the last part of your journey from Stirling Railway Station to Dounans, Aberfoyle. This journey takes about 30 minutes. We may need to charge you £16 (€ 24) for any pickups outside these times:
Pre-conference shuttle bus: Monday 23 April between 14.00 and 18.00 hrs
Conference shuttle bus: Thursday 26 April between 14.00 and 18.00 hrs

By Train

If you arrive by train you should aim to get to Stirling Railway Station for the free shuttle bus - see above. Times, routes and costs can be planned at:

By Ferry

There is a ferry route between Zeebrugge in Belgium and Rosyth (near Edinburgh). This could be an attractive route if you wish to bring a car and are planning further touring after the conference. It is especially attractive for a car of four people. Onward travel between Rosyth and Aberfoyle will take you approximately 90 minutes. Departure from Dounans

We will arrange transport back to Stirling railway station on the morning of Monday 30th April. Please plan your return flights allowing enough time to travel to your airport.
