How to get there?

EEE 2027 conference takes place at “Bebrusai”, a lakeside conference and recreation centre on the shore of Lake Bebrusai in the Molėtai district, about 80 km north-east of Vilnius, Lithuania. Below you will find several ways to get there — whether you are travelling by plane, train, bus, car, or ferry.

Book early — a note on ticket prices

In 2027 Lithuania holds the Presidency of the Council of the European Union. This means significantly more official travel to and from Lithuania, and flights, buses and trains may get more expensive and sell out faster than usual. We strongly recommend booking your tickets as early as possible to get good deals and guaranteed seats — especially for peak travel days around the conference dates.

Travel together with your EEE friends!

In the shared arrival/departures file [insert link] you can fill in your way of travelling or your travel requests. It would be nice if you can travel together, so contact your EEE friends to make travel arrangements!

By plane

The two most convenient airports are Vilnius (VNO) and Kaunas (KUN). Vilnius has the wider choice of connections from across Europe; Kaunas is served mainly by low-cost carriers (e.g. Ryanair, Wizz Air). If you are coming from the US or Asia, you will most likely connect via a major European hub (Copenhagen, Warsaw, Frankfurt, Helsinki, Riga, Istanbul, etc.) into Vilnius.

From Vilnius Airport to Vilnius Bus Station

  • Train or bus — the airport has its own train stop (about 7 minutes to Vilnius main station) and city buses run regularly. The main bus station (Autobusų stotis) is right next to the train station.
  • Taxi / ride-hailing — Bolt and Uber work well in Vilnius and cost about €10–15 to the bus station or city centre.

From Vilnius, continue to Molėtai by bus (see “By bus” below).

From Kaunas Airport

There is no direct bus from Kaunas to Molėtai, so the easiest route is through Vilnius:

Take bus 29G from the airport to Kaunas bus station (or a Bolt/Uber, ~15–20 min).

Take a long-distance bus or train from Kaunas to Vilnius — these run very frequently (every 20–30 minutes at peak times, journey ~1h15–1h35 by bus, ~1h05 by train). Check Kautra – www.kautra.lt, autobusubilietai.lt – www.autobusubilietai.lt or LTG link – ltglink.lt for trains.

From Vilnius bus station, continue by bus to Molėtai (see below).

An alternative with a change in Jonava (Kaunas–Jonava, then Jonava–Molėtai) exists but involves less frequent connections — the Vilnius route is usually faster overall.

If several of you land at Kaunas at a similar time, sharing a Bolt/Uber directly to Bebrusai (~1h45 drive) can also make sense — let us know your arrival times in the shared file.

By bus (from Vilnius to Molėtai)

Long-distance buses from Vilnius Bus Station to Molėtai Bus Station run several times a day (roughly every 3–4 hours, first departures early in the morning, last departures in the early evening). The journey takes about 1h10–1h35 and costs around €7–9. Operators include Kautra and TOKS.

Check the current timetable and buy tickets here: autobusubilietai.lt – www.autobusubilietai.lt and Kautra – www.kautra.lt

Please note: the last buses to Molėtai leave Vilnius in the early evening (currently around 18:30 — please double-check the timetable for your travel date). If you arrive in Vilnius after public transport to Molėtai has finished for the day, don’t worry — we will arrange transfers for you. We will organise these closer to the conference date, once we know everyone’s arrival times — so please fill in your arrival details in the shared file!

Other useful connections: direct international buses to Vilnius run from Warsaw, Riga, Tallinn and other cities (Lux Express, FlixBus, Ecolines) — a comfortable and sustainable option, especially from Poland and the Baltics.

By train

Lithuania’s rail network is limited, but there are two useful options:

From Poland: there is a direct international train Kraków – Warsaw – Vilnius (PKP Intercity / LTG Link). Check ltglink.lt and intercity.pl

Kaunas – Vilnius: fast and frequent trains (~1h05), useful if you land in Kaunas.

From Vilnius main station, walk 2 minutes to the bus station and continue by bus to Molėtai (see above). There is no railway to Molėtai itself.

By car or van

Probably your GPS knows the way! The destination is:

Poilsiavietė „Bebrusai“, Bebrusai village, Inturkė eldership, Molėtai district, Lithuania (approx. 60 km from Vilnius, ~1h drive; from Kaunas ~1h45; from Klaipėda ~3h).

Coming by car with a full load of EEE friends is a great and sustainable option — and if you are driving from Poland or further south/west, you may want to consider the ferry shortcut below.

By ferry (a good shortcut if you’re driving)

If you are travelling from Germany, Sweden or Scandinavia with your own car or van, a ferry to Klaipėda can save you a lot of driving:

Kiel (Germany) – Klaipėda — DFDS – www.dfds.com overnight crossing, several times a week

Travemünde (Germany) – Klaipėda — TT-Line – www.ttline.com

Karlshamn (Sweden) – Klaipėda — DFDS / TT-Line

From Klaipėda port it is about a 3-hour drive (≈290 km) to Bebrusai via the A1 motorway and Vilnius bypass.

The last stretch: Molėtai → Bebrusai (5 km)

The venue is about 5 km from Molėtai bus station. You have these options:

  • On foot — it is a pleasant walk of about an hour through the countryside. A very nice way to arrive, if the weather is kind!
  • Organised transfer — if walking is not an option for you, we will arrange transfers between Molėtai and the venue. Just let us know your arrival time in the shared arrivals file.
  • Taxi — several taxi services operate in Molėtai: V. Žvinio įmonė (+370 611 52111, 24/7), A. Mačiulio IĮ (+370 687 76300), D. Labucko IĮ (+370 601 90904), M. Maciulevičiaus firma (+370 671 91781). Availability is limited in a small town, so we recommend arranging a pick-up with us in advance rather than relying on finding a taxi on the spot. Bolt/Uber generally do not operate in Molėtai.

Late arrivals

If you arrive in Vilnius (or Kaunas) after the public transport to Molėtai has finished for the day, we will arrange a transfer for you. This will be planned closer to the conference date, once we know all arrival times — please make sure to fill in your details in the shared arrival/departures file [insert link].

We recommend planning your journey in advance, especially this year — remember to book early because of the EU Presidency travel demand. Closer to the conference dates, additional practical information will be shared with participants.

We look forward to welcoming you by the lake in Lithuania!
